Frequently Asked Questions by Duramax Sheds Direct Customers

Can I modify my shed?

Can I paint my Shed?

Certainly, you have the flexibility to modify or paint your sheds as you see fit. However, it is important to be aware that any alterations made to the sheds will void the warranty associated with the original product.

While we understand the desire to personalize and adapt the sheds to your needs, we advise considering the implications of voiding the warranty before proceeding with any modifications.

Please keep in mind that any modifications undertaken are done at your own risk, and the warranty will no longer be applicable once changes are made to the original product.

What is the length of warranty on my shed?

Vinyl sheds carry a 15 year warranty while the steel buildings carry a 10 year.

Can I order a shed with custom dimensions?

We offer a wide variety of sheds for many different applications. We suggest looking over our complete line to see if we have something suitable for you.

All of our sheds come in pre-made kit form, so sheds with custom dimensions are not available.

Can I connect two of the insulated buildings together?

You cannot connect two insulated buildings together, but there are extension kits available that can extend the length to whatever you like in 3 ft increments.

Can I put the doors of the shed on the opposite side?

Certainly, almost all our sheds feature reversible doors, allowing you to place them on the opposite side if desired.

This is not possible on the flat roof insulated buildings.

In some instances instead of moving the door to another side it may serve your purpose to rotate the shed itself so the doors are located in a more favorable position.

Can I buy two of the sidemate sheds and connect them end to end making a 16ft long unit?

I have had customers do this, but I do not have instructions on how and it would void any warranty.

Can you mount solar panels on the roof?

Any modification to the building would void any warranty. Weight would be an issue to verify before trying anything like that which is something we cannot answer.

Can I install an overhead garage door opener on the Imperial garage?

This is NOT recommended.

How can I order parts for my shed?

If you need to order any replacement parts you can reach out to support@uspolymersinc.com via email, and they will be more than happy to assist you in obtaining the specific part you need. Feel free to contact them with any further inquiries, and they will be glad to help.

Does it come with shelves?

Shelving is not included, but we do offer a selection of shelf kits and other accessories that work with all of the vinyl sheds.

Do you do installs or assembly?

No, we do not offer installation or assembly services. Maintaining a nationwide database of reliable craftsmen for assembly would be impractical.

However, we recommend visiting your local home improvement stores such as Menards, Home Depot, Lowes, even your local hardware store, etc.. Stores such as these have a contractors desk where they maintain a list of currently available craftsmen for various jobs, including shed assembly.

It's advisable to obtain multiple bids from different contractors to compare prices before making a decision. This way, you can find someone suitable for the job and ensure a successful assembly process.

Is it difficult to put together?

How long will it take to assemble?

This is the single most difficult question to answer because everybody has a different skill set and experience level for something like this.

If you are a handy person and comfortable with diy projects involving basic hand tools and you can read some basic expanded drawing directions, then it should be no problem for you as long as you have a person to help hold the pieces in place. One person can do it alone, but it is much easier with two.

Expect to spend an afternoon assembling your shed if you already have a foundation to build upon. Maybe two days for some of the larger kits  based on skill and/or your work pace.

If you are not as comfortable with assembly projects it will take longer, but can be done, or you may want to consider finding a local person to assemble for you.

How long will it take for me to receive the shed?

The estimated delivery time for the shed is 7 to 14 business days, depending on your location. Duramax has two warehouses, one in California and the other in New Jersey.

If you are located west of the Mississippi River, the shed will be delivered from the California warehouse. If you are located east of the Mississippi River, it will be delivered from the New Jersey warehouse.

Please note that the proximity to the warehouse may impact the delivery timeframe, and it is best to consider this when estimating the delivery date.

UPDATE:  We are in the process of opening a third warehouse in Kansas City which will hopefully lead to improved delivery times.

Where do you deliver to?

We deliver to the 48 contiguous United States.  At this time we cannot deliver to Hawaii, Alaska or Canada.

What is the wind rating of the sheds?

What is the snow load rating?

We do not have information available for wind as Duramax does not provide wind ratings for their sheds.

Most Duramax sheds have a snow load rating of 20 pds/sq.ft. Please check the individual shed’s technical data.

How is the shed anchored to the ground?

Anchoring would depend on the foundation you use.  If you are building it on concrete I would use concrete tapping screws.  Any other foundation, gravel, pavers, dirt, etc,  I would use some type of screw anchor.

Currently, the shed colors we have available are the ones displayed on our website. We appreciate your interest and encourage you to explore the options listed online.

What is the foundation kit, is it a floor?

No, it is not a floor. The foundation kit consists of a steel tube framework used to build the shed. It serves as a base for the shed's construction, similar to floor joists in a house built on a foundation.

It is essential to have a solid and level base for the foundation kit, which can be made from materials like packed dirt, gravel, 4x4 runners, paver stones, or concrete.

Once the foundation kit is assembled on this base, you proceed to build the shed on top of it. The assembly instructions will provide two options for completing the floor inside the shed: plywood or concrete, depending on your preference.

There’s no manual for the foundation kit on the website. Can you send me a PDF copy?

We apologize for the inconvenience, while we don't have a PDF instruction available for the foundation kit by itself, all of our sheds should have the assembly PDF in the tabs of information available on the product page. These PDF’s include the foundation kit if it is part of that shed package.

Also, rest assured that once you receive the sheds, they will come with all the necessary documents and instructions in paper form for you to properly assemble the shed, including the foundation kit.

If you do not see the answer to your question here please feel free to contact us via chat, email or phone and we will be happy to find the information you need.
